This was the first time that I have given a Title Boxing Club a try, and it was a kick-ass workout. Class started with a rigorous 15 minute warm up where you move the entire time. Then, the next 30 minutes is broken into 8 rounds of bag exercises. The instructor demonstrates the combination, and then you have 30 seconds to a minute of repeating the combination. Each round consists of about 3 sets of combos, followed by 30 seconds of active recovery. The clubs also have just boxing classes, which I imagine will be a similar setup without the kicking combos. The class ends with 13 minutes of core work and 2 minutes of stretching.

The particular location I went to was very clean (and only 3 months old). The class only had about 4 people in it, so overcrowding did not seem to be a problem, and there were at least 20 punching bags and a boxing ring. The facilities were very nice and well kept. My only complaint was that the core work was done on the hard floor (I didn’t see any mats) so it was a little painful on the back and tailbone. Other than that, the class was great; I wish there was one closer to me in LA!

I’m not a gym person, (which is why I’m so in love with ClassPass), but after hearing that my friend is in love with Crunch gym, I decided to go check it out with her. Located in the CB2 plaza on Sunset, the facilities were big and clean, though it wasn’t on the same level as Equinox. (But you get what you pay for!).  There were multiple weight stations, machines, open floor area and studio rooms. This gym definitely was equipped with everything you’d want for a workout. However, you sometimes had to weight for a machine or station because there weren’t too many of them.

Crunch also offers various classes, and these were at more popular times. The gym time seems to be only available during really early hours, really late hours, or weekends (which makes sense since they don’t want Classpassers overcrowding their normal members). Overall, I had a good experience, but I probably would not go back alone because I normally have no idea what I am doing in a gym without guidance.

I finally tried Burn 60 for the first time as part of the LA ClassPass Ambassador event. The class was tough – similar to a Barry’s, but slightly less intimidating. We did approximately 9 minute rounds that alternated between the treadmill and weighted floor work. The treadmill consisted of intervals where we jogged, walked and sprinted for no more than 60s in most cases. Floor consisted of core, arms, legs and chest. You could choose the dumbbells that best suited you.

The studio is new and clean. There is an outdoor area with a wonderful view of West Hollywood and its hills. The studio is a little tricky to find though. It is located directly above the Pavilions and you actually have to go into the Pavilions to take the elevator to the second floor. There is also another Burn 60 in Brentwood which I’ll have to check out when I’m ready to go back. 🙂
